What a Heat Calculation Covers

Before MH Services had a truck or a license, it had this: heat calculations and duct design, the engineering math behind whether a home is actually comfortable. It's how our owner got into the HVAC world, and it's still the most underrated service we offer.

A load calculation measures what your house really needs, room by room: square footage, ceilings, windows, insulation, orientation, and Colorado's altitude, all in the math. Duct design turns that number into airflow that actually reaches every room. Builders order this for new construction. Homeowners order it when one room never gets comfortable and nobody can tell them why.

  • Room-by-room heat load calculations for new builds, additions, and remodels
  • Duct system design: sized runs, returns, and static pressure that works on paper before it's built
  • Second opinions before you buy, to verify the tonnage another contractor proposed
  • Comfort diagnostics, to find why the bonus room runs 8 degrees off the rest of the house
  • Documentation for permits and builder submittals

“Mark (father) and Matt (son) were wonderful to work with! I’m so happy we stumbled upon this small family and locally COS owned business. We love our new Regency i2500 Firewood Insert and non-combustible mantle will be using it as our primary heat source.”

“Matt was amazing! Found our issue quickly, repaired it and educated us along the way! It was such a fantastic experience. Past fire place guy said we needed a whole new fire place, Matt found it was just a bad switch! Grateful!”
Megan Schofield · Google Review
“Matthew was extremely thorough, checking out the AC unit and the Armstrong furnace. The blower was very dirty, and Matthew spent a lot of time cleaning out the blower. I would highly recommend MH Services to anyone. Courteous, professional, and extremely thorough.”

“Father and son, Mark and Matthew, were amazing. We are 100% satisfied with our Wiseway pellet stove install from MH Services CO, LLC. We are looking forward to using our central, electric heater a lot less this winter ; )”

Common Questions About Heat Calculations & Duct Design

Why do I need a load calculation? The last contractor just quoted a unit.

Because "same size as the old one" is how the old comfort problems survive an equipment replacement. A load calculation catches oversizing, undersizing, and duct restrictions before you've paid to inherit them.

Can you design ductwork for my builder?

Yes, that's a core service. We deliver sized duct layouts and equipment specs your builder or mechanical sub can build from, with documentation for permitting.

One room in my house never gets warm. Is this the service I need?

Almost certainly. That's a duct and load problem, not a thermostat problem. We measure, find the restriction or the shortfall, and give you the fix options in plain English.
